AδRAHTI (2026)

for 3 Percussionists

dur.  ~9' 30''

Through rotation and tension, the Adrahti (spindle) guides separate fibers into a shared motion. In the piece, different rhythmic strands and sonic states meet, intertwine, and transform, continuously generating new relationships with one another.

The music unfolds through a series of transformations. Each new state emerges from the previous one and becomes interwoven with it, shaping the flow of the work. At many points, different rhythmic strands coexist, creating constantly changing textures and densities. These transformations also affect the perception of time itself, as metric modulations continuously generate new relationships of pulse and motion.

At the center of the work, the individual rhythmic strands gradually converge and momentarily weave the rhythm of the Zonaradikos dance. This shared pulse dissolves once again, and the music continues its path of transformation.

Adrahti was commissioned by the Greek National Opera and composed between April and June 2026.

Premiere: 11.11.2026 | Greek National Opera | Alternative Stage | Greek Percussion Group

Innesto (2026)

for solo Trumpet & sympathetic resonators

dur.  ~8'

The title INNESTO (Italian for “grafting”) refers to the process by which a living element is inserted into another body, giving rise to a new organic unity.

The voice is integrated into the sound of the trumpet and permeates its sonic core, forming a single sonic body.

At the same time, a melodic memory is introduced into the sonic fabric and assimilated into the overall form, transforming the material through its very presence.

The work was written between November 2025 and March 2026 for Iasonas Maroulis.

Σίγμα διά Έψιλον (2025)

for Male Voice & Ensemble

dur.  ~7'

1 male voice, 1 clar  Bb/bass cl., 1 trumpet C, 1 Vln, 1 Vla, 1 Vc, piano

The title Sigma dia Epsilon (σ/Ε) refers to the physical relationship of stress to strain — to the way a body responds under load. The piece, composed between April and August 2025, is inspired by Franz Kafka’s enigmatic short text The Bridge.
In it, the narrator does not know the purpose of his existence — nor does he question it. He exists simply as a structure, silently at the service of others. When external pressure is finally applied —perhaps in a first act of self-awareness, with a single turn of the gaze— the elastic limit is breached. And then, he collapses.

Premiere: 11.10.2025 | Greek National Opera | Alternative Stage | cond. N. Vassiliou | Ergon Ensemble | soloist Ch. Kechris

Interstitium (2025)

String Quartet

dur.  ~8'

Interstitium refers to the fluid, continuous space that exists between internal structures — a kind of connective tissue, both physical and metaphorical.
This composition unfolds as an unbroken stream, navigating through shifting spatial landscapes, fragmented or distorted memories, and altered states of consciousness. These contrasting yet interconnected episodes are held together by a unifying structural thread, offering coherence within constant transformation.
The work was composed between December 2024 and April 2025, for Ergon Ensemble.

Premiere: 12.10.2025 | Greek National Opera | Alternative Stage | cond. N. Vassiliou | Ergon Ensemble

The newly dead would be ferried across the Acheron by Charon to enter Hades.  The work is based on an extramusical idea, which describes the moment of the passage of the soul to the "other side".
